Around 1,300 policemen in Russia’s Republic of Ingushetiya have submitted their resignations in the past few days, according to the personnel department of the Ingush Ministry of Interior.
However, on the orders of Ministry of Interior Musa Medov, the applications for resignation will not be accepted. Instead, the policemen will lose their holiday entitlements and will be dismissed for AWOL.
One of the policemen who resigned said:
“Medov and [President Murat] Zyazikov, who have surrounded themselves with several bodyguards, are not able to protect us, force us to take part in political repression, disperse demonstrations and popular meetings, and fight against religious youth.”
