“Action Directe” in Moscow

Arsonists set fire to the building of the military commandant’s office in Moscow’s South-Western district on 1 April 2009. The group of arsonists posted video footage of the attack and their political manifest in their blog.

The same building on Moscow’s Novoyasenevsky Avenue houses the offices of the Russian Justice Ministry’s Main Department for the Execution of Punishments (GUIN) and other offices, which also caught fire.

The group’s statement says that the action was “aimed at revealing the unhealthy state of the society, divided into peaceful citizens and armed forces.” The group expresses the wish that the spring draft will be the last one.

The group declares that they are no fascists or terrorists. “Fascism is an evil generated by the current system to set people against each other,” the group states, adding that the government uses terrorism to manipulate people.
