Agrarian Party joins United Russia

Russia’s Agrarian Party has decided to join the ruling United Russia party. Vladimir Plotnikov, leader of the Agrarians, said the affinity between the two parties is obvious. Andrey Isaev, Deputy Secretary of the Presidium of the General Council of United Russia, said the merger will bring more votes to United Russia and weakens the opposition, including the Communist Party (KPRF). The Agrarian Party used to be in alliance with the KPRF, but then switched allegiance to Vladimir Putin and the United Russia.
