Chechenpress published on 17 February 2008 a list of 2,000 people, mostly Chechens, who were purportedly condemned by Russian security services to extrajudicial killing.
Many of the people on the list are opponents of the Chechen strongman, Ramzan Kadyrov, and have since been killed.
The latest victim is Alik Dzhabrailov, who was killed together with his wife, Zarema Sadulayeva, on 10 August 2009 in Grozny.
Most of the people on the list have, however, never had anything to do with the armed militants opposed to Kadyrov’s pro-Moscow regime in Grozny.
Oksana Chelysheva, member of the Russian-Chechen Friendship Society, said people whose names are on the list do consider it a danger to their lives.
