Court shuts down Ingushetiya.ru

A court in Moscow suspended the main opposition website in the North-Caucasian republic of Ingushetia while prosecutors investigate regional government’s accusations it spreads extremist material. The website, Ingushetiya.ru, is owned by local businessmen Magomed Yevloev.

His lawyer, Kaloi Akhigov, said the website shows Ingushetia as it really is, which is why the authorities wish to shut it down. The website is hosted in the United States, meaning that the court has to order all internet providers in Russia to switch off the website by the June 5 deadline, Akhigov said.
