Finland hosts representatives of the Chechen administration
Finland is hosting a delegation of nine members of the Chechen parliament and representatives of Chechnya’s local administration this week. The visit is part of the education programme of the Council of Europe. The Chechen delegation will meet Members of the Finnish Parliament and local administration officials in two Finnish towns.
The visit has been kept secret from the public, and all officials linked to the visit claim to be unaware of the event. That is by no means a surprise, given that the group represents the blood-soaked administration of Ramzan Kadyrov, which has reached its position by cruel violations of human rights and by creating an atmosphere of fear in Chechnya.
Finnish MPs and representatives of local administration can hide behind the Council of Europe and claim they are only acting in the name of democracy. One has to keep in mind, however, that President Kadyrov himself is a torturer and a murderer, and hosting his delegation means that Finland lends support to his tyrannical government and the torture and murder of Chechen civilians.
