The independent online news portal, Ingushetia.Org, and the entertainment portal, Vaymohk.Com, have come under repeated attacks. Earlier, a group calling itself “Cyber unit Ansar” announced that it had hacked Ingushetia.Org, calling it a propaganda site of Ingushetia’s “puppet” president, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov. The hackers placed a video statement of Dokka Umarov, so-called Emir of the Caucasus, on the site.
Roza Malsagova, editor-in-chief of Ingushetia.Org, rejects allegations that the site would be under the control of the republican leadership and special services. Ingushetia.Org is not subject to any groups, parties, or agencies, she assures. The site is open to opposing opinions. Ms Malsagova herself cannot accept neither the extrajudicial killings by the ruling regime’s secret services nor the ideology of the Caliphate.
Over the years, Ingushetia.Org has come under attack from the FSB, the courts, the prosecutors, Ingushetia’s former president Murat Zyazikov and his cohorts, and now from the North Caucasian armed resistance. The site’s former, owner, Magomed Yevloyev, was killed in August 2008. The killing sparked massive protests against Zyazikov and led to his replacement by Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, who was nearly killed in an assassination attempt in June 2009.
