Journey from Anapa to Minsk

Latvia’s Russian-language daily Chas publishes the diary of a train journey from the Black Sea resort of Anapa to the Belarusian capital Minsk.

The author, Nikolai Zubtsov, highlights the bustling illegal trade at train stations along the Ukrainian border, where local residents attempt to sell basically anything, mostly food products.

He also speaks about the differences between the Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian customs officials, saying that the Russian customs procedures were by far the longest and most trying.
