Nazran: Police shoot at demonstrators

Armed police dispersed a demonstration in Nazran, capital of Russia’s Republic of Ingushetia, during prayers in the early morning hours of 2 September 2008. Reports from the scene say that the police opened fire against the demonstrators and that there are casualties. The demonstrators vow to continue their protest, and are calling on Ingushetia’s former President, Ruslan Aushev, to return to the republic.
