New detentions in St Petersburg

Police in St Petersburg detained a group of people for being in posession of books written by presidential candidate Vladimir Bukovsky. The detentions took place after midnight, when a ban on political campaigning ahead of tomorrow’s Duma elections came into force. Among those detained were lawyers Ruslan Linkov and Grigory Solomensky, as well as journalists Svetlana Gavrilina and Viktor Nikolaev.
