Yekaterina Bunicheva, teacher at School No. 106 in the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod, has had to face constant harassment due to her opposition activities.
The school director and his bosses tried to dismiss Ms Bunicheva, an activist of the opposition Other Russia coalition, after her arrest for trying to attend a meeting of Vladimir Putin’s United Russia party.
Public pressure forced the school district’s management to back down, but they have since tried every possible means, including harassment and intimidation, to force her out.
The school director now refuses to allow Ms Bunicheva to take administrative leave to work on her dissertation. Parents of Ms Bunicheva’s pupils are ready to turn to the prosecutor and ask for an investigation into the school director’s activities.
