Nokia may move to Russia

Finland’s widely disputed new law on privacy in electronic communications has been noticed in Russia as well. St Petersburg’s free weekly, Moi Raion, reports on the draft law, dubbed Lex Nokia. Finland’s leading daily, Helsingin Sanomat, reported earlier that Nokia had threatened to withdraw from Finland if the law was rejected. Moi Raion suggests that Nokia could move to Russia, where corporations need not worry about employees’ privacy: corporate security can simply read all mail. Russia would be unlikely to refuse entry to the world’s biggest mobile phone manufacturer, the weekly concludes.
