Russian president Vladimir Putin will stay on as prime minister to retain control over the Kremlin’s vaste business empire. According to The New Times, Putin would wish to capitalise on his enormous political influence and leave politics. He was, however, forced to stay on as political leader due to the conflict between rival clans in the Kremlin.
Putin’s plan is to establish a gigantic international transport and energy corporation, based on the gas giant Gazprom, oil and gas production group Surgutneftegaz, the Baltic gas pipeline project Nord Stream, the distributor network Gunvor, and several logistics companies. The corporation would be registered somewhere outside of Russia.
