Russia one step ahead in copyright fight

United Russia has drafted a new law that would require the registration of each and every media (e.g. CDs or DVDs) carrying audio, video, software, or data.

Security Lab reports that under the new law, producers would only be allowed to sell CD or DVD writers to people with licences to copy such information.

The law would create serious problems for both producers and end users, who would even have to register video clips made using their mobile phones..
