Traditional Russian Minority in Estonia

The Estonian Bureau of Lesser Used Languages (EstBLUL) invites participants to a conference, Traditional Russian Minority in Estonia and Europe, on 1-4 October 2008. The conference will look at Russian language and culture and Orthodox Old Believers in Estonia. EstBLUL will cover all costs of transportation and accommodation in Estonia.

Opening addresses by representatives of the Estonian authorities, experts, and guests from EBLUL (Tomasz Wicherkiewicz); Tõnu Tender (Ministry of Education and Research): Introduction to Estonian Language Policy.

14:30–15:00 Film on Old Believers

15:00–19:00 Russian language and culture in Estonia: historical overview; Introduction to the history and culture of Old Believers in Estonia.
