United opposition in presidential elections?

Russian opposition parties are engaged in active negotiations about presenting a united candidate in the presidential elections in March 2008. Denis Bilunov, director of Garry Kasparov’s United Civic Front, said his party is in consultations with the Union of Rightist Forces (SPS) and Vladimir Ryzhkov’s Republican Party.

Former prime minister Mikhail Kasyanov’s National-Democratic Union (RNDS) has been in coalition talks with SPS as well. Boris Nemtsov, one of SPS’s leaders, has proposed a list of united candidates from the opposition: Garry Kasparov, Vladimir Ryzhkov, Mikhail Kasyanov, Grigory Yavlinsky, Vladimir Bukovsky, and himself.
