Yuri Afanasiev: “Russia is dying”

Yuri Afanasiev“Russia has long passed the point of no return. As a type of civilisation, it is dying,” says Yuri Afanasiyev, historian and politician, in an interview with Novaya Gazeta:

This process may take long. There may not necessarily be a cataclysm. Simply there is a quiet dying going on every day now.

I do not mean only demographic indicators, though the population is decreasing by one million every year, but also moral problems. Among themselves people live worse than animals.

Aggression has entered the family, affecting not only spouses, but also small children. People do not see a perspective…

Continuation is possible, but not in this Russia – in a renewed one, in a country that has changed its paradigm.
